At Straightway MBC of Mojave, CA the Young Adults Ministry (YAM) is designed to support individuals in their late teens, college students, and those in their twenties as they develop a holistic and healthy understanding of life while deepening their relationship with God. This ministry is for young adults ages 18-35, helping them grow spiritually and navigate the challenges of life with faith and purpose.

Mission

The goal of YAM is to assist young adults in becoming spiritual individuals who reflect Christ in every aspect of life. We emphasize developing relationships with God and with one another, encouraging personal growth and fostering accountability.

Biblical Foundation

• 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
• Romans 12:1-2: Teaches us not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds to understand God’s will. As young adults, it is vital to resist worldly temptations and live according to God’s plan, focusing on His purposes rather than personal desires.

Key Themes

1. Boldness in Faith: Learning to stand firm in our beliefs and proclaim God’s truth boldly.
2. Service: Encouraging a lifestyle of serving others in love and humility.
3. God’s Word: Dedicating time to study and apply the Scriptures in daily life.

Ministry Activities

• Monthly YAM Sheepfold Meetings (2nd or 3rd Sunday): Fellowship meetings to connect, discuss, and support one another in our spiritual journeys.
• Monthly Core Group Meetings: Focused gatherings for deeper study, prayer, and accountability.
• Annual Young Adult Retreat: A retreat to refresh, renew, and strengthen relationships with God and one another.

Leadership

The YAM Core Group includes leaders such as Courtney Fields and Malcolm Cook, who are dedicated to supporting and guiding the ministry. They encourage all young adults to prayerfully consider joining the ministry as it continues to grow.
